Jena Markley (Summer 2015)
The past ten weeks I’ve had the privilege of interning at Atlanta PR and digital media firm KPKinteractive. Their Brookhaven office is quaint and open, with local art on the walls, white boards for brainstorming, and sometimes a dog and cat for extra company.
The benefits of working with a company that has such multifaceted expertise are immense. I told them I wanted to learn more about creating websites, so they guided me in working on websites for clients. Of course I love social media, so I was able to create social media posts and stay up to date on social media trends. I wanted to add pieces to my portfolio, and I ended up designing a brochure, editing photos, and writing press releases. What I liked the most was participating in brainstorming meetings, when everyone is pitching ideas and trying to come up with inventive solutions and strategies for our diverse set of clients. Interning with KPKi is the perfect next step for someone wanting real world PR experience. Here I got to be a part of clients’ projects as much as everyone else in the office. I enjoyed coming into work every day because I was doing something different, learning, and expressing creativity. They really took the time to understand my strengths and goals so they could help me make the most of the internship.
Solyee Kim (Fall/Winter 2016)
My internship at KPKinteractive prepared me to jump into the real-world of PR. The entire team at the office helped me develop a number of skills to excel in many different practices you might face in today’s PR and media industry.
I learned a lot about PR, content and digital marketing, and even videography and photography. It was such a great opportunity to have hands-on experience on a variety of projects. I acquired various skillsets related to PR writing, social media, content curation and client communication. Along the way of understanding clients’ goals and objectives, planning and executing many different projects and reporting the outcomes, I learned how to collaborate and come up with creative and constructive solutions for a diverse set of clients.
I'm so grateful to have worked with some of the most creative-minded Atliens and spent time with the therapy/office dog Shiloh.
